  • Should I wear makeup to my appointment?
Please come with your topical makeup on as you would normally wear it (be advised you will be washing it off) and bring your current eyebrow pencil/fill.
  • How do you shape my eyebrows?
Our artist will use her experience and training to choose the best style, colour, and shape for your permanent makeup procedure. Eyebrows are designed using your facial structure and current eyebrow hair in conjunction with your desired result (e.g. a thin, medium, thick brow). Colours are typically decided by your natural hair and eyebrow colour. We will work together to create a brow that best compliments your facial features.
  • Can you make my eyebrows bigger/smaller?
Making significant changes to your eyebrow shape is possible however it is best to stay close to what you naturally have. Major changes require high maintenance and are not the best choice for all clients.
  • Do you shave the eyebrows off?
Not entirely. Once we design and draw an eyebrow shape and you approve the shape we will shave or pluck away any stray hairs that sit outside of the new shape. This is important to allow you to fully see and appreciate your new eyebrow shape.
  • Can you work over a scar in my eyebrow?
Some scars can be worked over, but they pose unique challenges. Scars can resist pigment or accept pigment too well which can lead to saturation inconsistencies. Please schedule a free consultation appointment. We will be able to properly assess your situation prior to booking a procedure appointment.
  • How long will it last?
The rate and degree of fading will vary from person to person depending on the tattoo itself, lifestyle, and environmental factors. Darker pigment colours (e.g. browns and dark browns) are more resistant to fading in comparison to lighter colours (e.g. blondes and blonde/browns). Sun exposure, facial treatments, exfoliants, etc. will cause faster fading. Eyebrow micropigmentation is expected to last 3-5 years. However, a colour enhancement may be wanted to keep the tattoo looking its best.
  • Will the procedure hurt?
Topical anesthetics will be used to help create the most comfortable cosmetic tattooing experience for our clients. Eyebrow clients typically feel little to no discomfort - many clients have fallen asleep while getting their brows done!
  • Will I bleed during the procedure?
Some bleeding is normal and to be expected during the procedure. Bleeding is always minimal. Factors that will affect bleeding will be discussed in length at your consultation or prior to your procedure appointment.
  • How long will the procedure take?
Eyebrow appointments are typically 3 hours long. During this time forms are completed, eyebrow shaping and design are created, the area is then numbed with topical anesthetics, and then tattooing begins.
  • What is the healing process of eyebrow micropigmentation?
Eyebrows heal in several stages and will appear differently throughout the process. The final healed result will typically be 30% lighter and slightly smaller than what the eyebrow looks like immediately after the appointment. Procedure Day - Eyebrows may have slight redness and swelling Day 2 - Day 3 - Eyebrows will appear darker and thicker Day 4 – Day 9 - Eyebrows will begin to crust and shed crust Day 10 – Day 14 - Eyebrows will appear to have disappeared, little colour shows Day 14 – Day 28 - Eyebrow colour re-emerges and shape is becoming defined Post Secondary Appointments - Eyebrows will be a consistent colour and perfect! *This is an average healing time, some may heal faster, some slower *
  • Is there anything important I need to know before booking?
There are several medical and lifestyle factors that can contraindicate permanent make-up. Many of these factors are listed here. An important consideration to ensure a successful eyebrow procedure is: Avoid tanning (sun, self-tanners, and tanning beds) for a minimum of 28 days before your appointment. Tanning masks your skin’s undertones. Your undertones are important to see clearly for colour selection. Failure to properly see and assess undertones can cause unwanted colour changes upon healing.
  • How long will it last?
The rate and degree of fading will vary from person to person depending on the tattoo itself, lifestyle, and environmental factors. Darker pigment colours used in eyeliners (e.g. black and dark browns) are more resistant to fading. Sun exposure, facial treatments, exfoliants, etc. will cause faster fading. Eyeliner has the best longevity out of the permanent makeup procedures. Due to the darker colour used as well as location, it is not uncommon for eyeliner to last 10 years plus. However, a colour enhancement may be wanted to keep the tattoo looking its best.
  • Will the procedure hurt?
Topical anesthetics and cold therapy are used to help create the most comfortable cosmetic tattooing experience for our clients. Eyeliner and Eyelash Enhancement clients typically feel minimal to mild discomfort. Many describe it as a tolerable pressure or a vibration sensation.
  • Will I bleed, bruise or swell during the procedure?"
The eyelid has the thinnest skin on the entire body therefore it responds readily to trauma. Bleeding is expectied to be minimal to none. Factors that will affect bleeding will be discussed in length at your consultation or prior to your procedure appointment. Bruising is normal but does not happen to every client. If you normally bruise easily you may be more prone to bruise during your eye appointment. Bruising is always minimal and only located in the area of the tattoo. Swelling is normal as it is the body’s natural response to trauma. The degree of swelling will vary from person to person. A good indicator to determine if you will have a lot of swelling is to think about how your eyes react after heavy crying. Those who swell after crying will most likely swell after their procedure. Cold therapy during and after your eye appointment to help reduce swelling.
  • How long will the procedure take?
Eye appointments are typically 1.5 to 2 hours long. During this time forms are completed, colour and style are discussed, the area is then numbed with topical anesthetics, and then tattooing begins.
  • What is the healing process of eye area micropigmentation?
Eye micropigmentation heal very fast. The procedure site is healed within 7-10 days with final healed results showing after 28 days. The final healed result will typically be approximately 40% smaller than what the eyeliner looks like immediately after the appointment. Procedure Day - Eyes may have redness, bruising, and swelling Day 2 - Day 5 - Eyeliner will appear darker and thicker, crust will appear Day 6 – Day 9 - Eyeliner will begin to shed crust Day 10 – Day 14 - Eyeliner will appear faint, little colour shows Day 14 – Day 28 - Eyeliner colour re-emerges Post Secondary Appointment - Eyeliner will be consistent colour and thickened to perfection! *This is an average healing time, some may heal faster, some slower *
  • Is there anything important I need to know before booking?
There are several medical and lifestyle factors that can contraindicate permanent make-up. Many of these factors are listed here. Two important considerations to ensure a successful eyeliner or eyelash enhancement procedure are: Remove all eyelash extensions prior to your appointment or allow us to allot extra time for removal prior to your eye service. Our Artist is also trained in eyelash extensions and removals. Additional fees will apply for eyelash extension removals. Discontinue use of lash growth serums for a minimum 12 weeks prior to your appointment. Lash growth serums can cause increased capillary formation which can lead to unwanted pigment migration during the procedure. Plan to avoid lash growth serums until AFTER secondary appointment healing period.
  • What is micropigmentation?
Permanent makeup and cosmetic tattooing are created by either manual or machine techniques. Micropigmentation is a machine-powered technique. The machine implants pigment in the dermal layer of the skin via small punctures from various needle configurations. The technique is like that of traditional body tattoos.
  • What is permanent makeup (PMU)?
Permanent makeup is a type of cosmetic tattooing which is done to simulate the appearance of wearing topical cosmetic makeup. Because the PMU tattoo sits under the skin it will never look exactly like topical makeup. Permanent makeup can also be used to enhance natural features or restore areas of client concern.
  • How does PMU differ from a regular tattoo?
The skin of the face differs greatly from that of the body. The face generally has a thinner dermal layer, more sebaceous glands, and is most frequently exposed to environmental elements such as UV rays. These differences require different tattooing techniques and materials to create successful permanent makeup results. Also, many types of colourants that are safe for the body are not recommended for use around the eye area. Permanent makeup pigments are specifically formulated for use in sensitive areas such as around the eyes and lips. Permanent makeup pigments are also formulated differently to allow for colours to be implanted in a soft, natural appearance.
  • How does micropigmentation differ from microblading?
Micropigmentation offers advantages over microblading (manual hand tool) techniques. Microblading is created by small lacerations in the skin which pigment is then masked on top to soak into the fresh wound. Micropigmentation typically has longer retention and produces less site trauma. In addition, micropigmentation is generally successful on skin types not recommended for manual methods such as oily/porous and mature skin. Micropigmentation allows for pigments to be implanted slightly deeper into the dermal layer of the skin in comparison to manual methods. Implantation depth aids in pigment retention resulting in several years of permanent makeup longevity. Micropigmentation machines allow for customized implantation settings and needle choices to best suit each client’s skin type and chosen procedure. For example, a client with youthful skin, large pores, and oil production will have different machine settings than a client with mature, thin skin, and no visible pores. A perfectly customized procedure for each client increases the lifespan and colour retention of the permanent makeup while reducing the amount of trauma to the site.
  • What are the benefits of PMU?
The benefits of permanent makeup are unique to each client’s life situation. Many clients enjoy the convenience of waking up with cosmetics, therefore simplifying morning routines and saving time. Permanent makeup also offers a practical solution to clients who have careers or hobbies that topical cosmetics cannot perform in, such as water sports and outdoor activities. A client may wish to have permanent makeup applied to enhance natural features or increase self-confidence. For instance, a well-shaped eyebrow can lift and open the eye area to give a more youthful appearance. Lips can be defined and coloured to give a fuller, more radiant look. Moreover, permanent cosmetics can be used to minimize or mask areas of concern, such as areas of hair loss, asymmetry or colour differences. Permanent makeup can allow clients who have difficultly applying topical cosmetics, such as those with visual or physical impairments, to enjoy the beauty of cosmetics without the daily challenges of application.
  • Does permanent makeup look natural?
Permanent makeup provides a natural polished look. It will give the allusion of wearing topical makeup when you are not wearing any makeup. It can quickly be dressed up with topical cosmetics for a more dramatic look for suitable occasions. We specialize in natural looking, soft permanent makeup.
  • How long will my permanent makeup last?
Although permanent makeup is commonly marketed as “semi-permanent” it is best to describe it as “permanent with fading”. All tattoos fade or become dull. The rate and degree of fading will vary from person to person depending on the tattoo itself, lifestyle, and environmental factors. Darker pigment colours (e.g. blacks and dark browns) have a higher lightfastness rating and are more resistant to fading in comparison to lighter colours (e.g. blondes and light browns). Sun exposure, facial treatments, exfoliants, etc. will cause faster fading. Fading is not necessarily a bad attribute of permanent makeup. Fading allows for future colour changes as hair and skin mature and change. It also allows for shape or style alterations as the client ages.
  • Why is permanent makeup expensive compared to body tattoos?
Permanent makeup and other forms of cosmetic tattooing require specialized training, tools, and materials. Specialized training is needed to work with facial skin as it presents different challenges in comparison to body skin. Permanent makeup pigments are specific to method of implantation, and are specially formulated for the area of implantation to ensure the best healed results. Prices reflect these factors as well as the skill and experience of the artist.
  • Can you work overtop of previous permanent makeup done by a different artist?
Any work overtop of previous permanent makeup is classified as Corrective, Cover-up or Other Work. Our artist, at this time, will take these types of procedures on a case by case basis only. Previous permanent makeup poses unique challenges. Please review our page on Corrective, Cover-up or Other Work.
  • Should I book a consultation?
Consultations are mandatory for all lightening, corrective, cover-up, other work, and lip and shadow eyeliner appointments. If you have questions or concerns regarding your health, skin or lifestyle it is best to schedule a consultation appointment. There are many health and lifestyle considerations that are not compatible with permanent makeup and cosmetic tattooing.
  • Is there anything important I need to know before I book a procedure?
There are many important considerations before you book a procedure appointment. Permanent makeup is a two appointment process. Also, many health, lifestyle, and medical factors are contradictory or can interrupt or alter the success of a permanent make-up procedure. Please book a free consultation or send Justine a message directly if you have any questions or concerns regarding your health, medical history or lifestyle and permanent make-up. Permanent make-up and cosmetic tattooing are contraindicated or not advised in many cases, these are listed in Health and Lifestyle Considerations.
  • Why do I need a second appointment?
Secondary appointments are important to correct, modify, or add anything from your initial appointment. For example, colours can be darkened, saturation can be increased, and changes to shape can be completed. The secondary appointment is also critical to help the artist better understand your skin and how your skin takes pigment and what your skin brings out from a cosmetic tattoo. Permanent make-up is a two-procedure process (initial and secondary).
  • Why is the second appointment scheduled 8-16 weeks later?
The secondary appointment is scheduled a minimum 8 weeks after your initial appointment to allow for complete healing of the skin and for the pigment colour to properly settle into the skin.
  • I would like permanent makeup for my special event (e.g. wedding, vacation, honeymoon, etc.). When should I book my appointments?"
To ensure the best healed results it is recommended to start scheduling your consultation and procedure at least 4 months before any big event.
  • Will the procedure hurt?
Topical anesthetics will used to help create the most comfortable cosmetic tattooing experience for our clients. The use of these products will be discussed fully during your consultation or before your procedure appointment.
  • Will I bleed during the procedure?
Some bleeding is normal and to be expected during the procedure. Factors that will affect bleeding will be discussed in length at your consultation appointment or before your procedure.
  • How long will the procedure take?
Procedure time will vary depending on procedure(s) chosen. Typically, eyebrows and lips require the most amount of time for a procedure. Appointment times are listed on under Services and will be explained to you at the time of booking.
  • Will there be swelling?
Some swelling is normal as it is the body’s natural response to trauma. The degree of swelling will vary from person to person. A good indicator to determine if you will have a lot of swelling is to think about how your eyes react after heavy crying. Those who swell after crying will most likely swell after their procedure, specifically the eyeliner service. Severe swelling accompanied by pain, itching, discomfort, etc. can be a sign of an adverse reaction or infection.
  • How long will it take to heal?
Each person’s skin is unique and therefore healing times can vary. You can expect to see healed results 4-6 weeks post-procedure.
  • What aftercare will I be given?
You will be provided with specific instructions and all necessary products for your procedure aftercare.
  • Can I use my own aftercare products?
No. The provided aftercare products and instructions have been used industry-wide and provide excellent healing. They are safe, tested, and vegan. Do not deviate from the prescribed aftercare instructions. Failure to properly care for your procedure or deviation from given aftercare instructions may result in refusal of future services.
  • Will there be scabbing?
With proper aftercare being followed there should be minimal scabbing for permanent makeup procedures. A thin crust will appear and flake away as part of the normal healing process. Following the prescribed aftercare is paramount to a sucessful healing process.
  • When do I schedule my second appointment?
Permanent makeup services are two-step procedures involving the initial procedure and a secondary appointment 8-16 weeks later (with the exception of eyelash enhancement, corrective, cover-up, and "other" services which are a single appointment). Failure to schedule a secondary appointment will void future Colour Enhancement discounts - Initial pricing of 100% will apply.
  • When will I see final results?
You can expect to see your final results approximately 4-6 weeks after your secondary appointment.
  • What if I do not like the results?
Your secondary appointment will allow modifications to your permanent make-up. Colours can be darkened, saturation can be increased, and slight changes to shape can be completed.
  • Questions about corrective, cover-up or other work?"
Please see our corrective, cover-up, and other work specific FAQ here.
  • What are the infection risks of the permanent makeup procedure?
Any invasive procedure where the skin barrier is broken has risk involved. The most common risk is a general skin infection. The infection risk is most likely to occur in the aftercare/healing period. This risk can be greatly minimized by following aftercare instructions exactly as outlined. Other serious skin infections such as impetigo, staphylococcus or cellulitis can be reduced by following aftercare instructions exactly as outlined and seeking medical attention as soon as an infection is suspected. Serious infections from bloodborne pathogens are eliminated through safe work practices, administrative controls, and engineering controls. These safe work practices and controls are outlined by the Government of Saskatchewan’s The Health Hazard Regulations under The Public Health Act, 1994 and the Saskatchewan Personal Service Facility Best Management Practices. Safe work practices and controls are then inspected regularly by the local Health and Safety inspector.
  • What are the other risks of the permanent makeup procedure?
As with any tattoo there are risks involved. Common risks include allergic or adverse reactions to anesthetics, pigments, soaps and wipes, nitrile gloves, removal solutions, aftercare products, etc. These risks will be mitigated or acknowledged through a thorough consultation. A “patch test” is available for clients with concerns. A patch test involves a small amount of product being applied topically on the forearm and then allowed 24 hours to respond. If requested, SDS (MSDS) sheets are available for most products. Other risks include keloid or hypertropic scarring. Pigment migration and possible adverse colour changes are also associated risks. These risks will be discussed at your consult appointment.
  • Can I be allergic to the pigments?
The colorants used in our pigment line are synthetically recreated to ensure purity and to reduce the risk of allergic and adverse reactions. It is important to list ALL KNOWN ALLERGIES on the Client Form upon intake. Although you may not have an adverse reaction to the pigments, it is important to consider other potential allergens such as anesthetics used to numb the area, soaps, wipes, disinfectants, aftercare products, nitrile gloves, etc. We will be happy to search ingredient lists or provide a copy of a product’s SDS (formerly MSDS), should it be available.
